How to mark all posts in a thread read

Had a quick search but couldn't find the answer to this.

How can I mark a thread read without having to go into it?  I don't like the fact when i go into, say, "Motoring" all unread threads show new posts, even if the posts were made well before I last logged in.  If I use the "new post" button I can't find a way of sorting the 100 pages worth by forum.


EDIT - just found the answer, cog wheel by side of forum name at top level.

To use your example, when in the Motoring board, click on the Profile icon - top right of the page.

Then click on Mark Category Viewed and all the threads on the Motoring board - a board is now known as a category - will now have been marked as read.

Lovely, I've been looking for a way to do that. 
ETA - if you have favourite categories, and the menu set to only show those categories, the drop-down menu on the last category doesn't show "unfollow", that's hidden behind the page footer.
