Paying deposit by bank transfer

i am booking a villa for 2021. Do I have any protection if I pay by bank transfer and the company goes bust

Bank transfer? No, you would have none whatsoever. Avoid like the plague.0

At worst you should only agree to paying a small deposit by bank transfer. Pay the balance on arrival. If they will accept card payment that is a much safer route to take. There is no protection for a payment by bank transfer and I would only use it for somebody I knew well and trusted.

Are you sure you are not having to pay the owners direct? I have paid for several villas in France and Italy by BT but only where I have had to pay the owners directly rather than a company.0
