My Father in Law Cannot get Firbre in his area

Hi, My father in law who lives in Leeds, cannot get fibre and has been told by Talk Talk and BT, also Sky that he cannot have Fibre Broadband.  He currently has broadband 3mbps - 5mbps.  He put me to task to try and find him faster internet, so i put his postcode into the comparison site search engines. They state that he can get fibre, but when your taken to the ISP providers website, the information on there is different and states that he can only get standard broadband.  He lives near a telegraph pole and one of those green exchange boxes.  I wondered if anyone else was experiencing the same here.

Kind regards

Chris

  • Yes, we have the same issue in our area. Nothing we can do about it until fibre becomes available in our area.

If Openreach have not updated the green cabinet with a new cabinet then you are stuck with ADSL speeds until they either offer FTTP  or update the exiisting network to FTTC.

It may simply be that fibre is in the area but the cabinet is full, no more connections are available.

    How about mobile internet?
Have a look at SIMO at mobilephonedirect, fonehouse, etc
SIMO with unlimited data is from £18 - 31 before cashback.
Get one of those and purchase a 4G router.
P.S. test the speed before you sign up for 12 months contact
