After you use any cordless vac's you hang them up in their holder and they recharge to 100% you need somewhere to hang on wall and a socket available usually underneath. When they are back at 100% they stop charging.Adamc said:

And you need a free socket and permanent place to hang your vacuum cleaner. Gone are the days of stuffing it in the cupboard under the stairs. Plus rechargeable batteries don't last (anything like) forever. Until battery technology improves and they become cheaper, I won't be investing in one.
Our Gtech doesn't require hanging on a wall, the battery can be removed and charged at any available socket. Ours is several years old, maybe 6 or 7, could be longer and no sign of any problem with the battery yet. Agreed they are not cheap, but as the phrase goes 'long after the price is forgotten, the quality remains.'

For the price of a cordless vacuum, I could get my cleaner to call once per week to clean for an hour, all yearneilmcl said:Depends how you like to keep on top of the vacuuming. If you just like to run around for 10 mins or so every couple of days on the odd room then a cordless is ideal, if you're like most of us and only do a big hoover every week or more then you can't beat a decent corded machine.

I bought a Russell Hobs Sabre 18v for £20 from Asda reduced today from £79.99 in the bargain bin. First Impressions are great, Won't be any good for the full house Vac, but perfect for cleaning up after the kids.0
