Problems logging in - every time that I try to log in to the forum -
I have to use "lost password link" and then re-use my existing password to log
in !
Also my profile shows 1.8k posts - true figure over 10k !
And what, exactly are the points mentioned on the profile page - 146 in my case ?

I only had to reset the passowrd when they changed to the new forum, and that asked me for my email address only. I was unable to login until I reset the password as passwords were not carried over from the old site. What you choose as a password is up to you, as long as it meets the specified criteria. Whether you can set it the same as your old password, assuning you already had a strong enoygh one, I don't know, but I suspect you could because as I said, they did not carry the old passwords over.
What happens if you just try to login with your user name and password, as you've obviously reset yours as you are posting here.
In regards your postcount, I see under your avatar (if you had one) that you do indeed have 10k posts.
In your profile, this is shown as 1.8k threads (being threads you started I believe) and 8.2k replies
I'm not sure what the points are exactly, but they are accumulated since the new site started. I think you get them for contributing positively to the site, not just for posts, but maybe for other things like maybe adding an avatar to your account, earning badges, etc
(As I say, I'm not sure of the detail - perhaps it's another MSE "top secret")
I'm just hoping "points make prizes" as the late, great Brucie used to say
Edit: Actually I might be completely wrong about the points
I see you have 146 points whilst I only have 37 points. You don't appear to have posted more than me since the new forum started, and neither have you added an avatar or earned any badges etc (nor have I)
The only difference I can see is you do have a signature, but I wouldn't have thought that would earn you so many more points.
So perhaps some were awarded for usage on the previous site?
Edit 2: Looks like I was partially correct about the points. It's about positive interaction on the site, generally. Here are some examples:Posts you make
If someone thanks your post (which presumably includes comp-liments etc)
Adding an avatar
I think you can also lose points for being naughty
I guess there are lots of other things too.
I fear it will be a very long time until I earn myself a prize.

Once you are logged in, if you bookmark the forum subject list page, or your forum favourites page, then if you simply use that bookmark next time it takes you straight in without having to enter any login information - well it does for me anyway :-)

I an asked to reset my password (using the lost password link) - every time that I log in to the forum - and this is extremely tedius !!I simply retype my existing password in and it lets me back in - but why do I have to go through this extra step ?0
