What happened to the "quote" button? What code do I now have to add to make a quote?

Found it! Why is it buried?

  • New problem.

When I start a post with a quote, how do I post outside the quote?

Type in the unshaded area below the quote box
  • Doesn't work. Try it.

Hit post, hit quote, post a quote, from an external source rather than from another poster,  then try clicking outside the block of  information you have added.
Nor can you click "edit" after you've posted, and try to add outside the quote then.

Works ok for me, just have to click the expand button to the right of the post so it goes below the grey box.

Click the </> button to see the code view. Select after the /blockquote tag and press Enter a couple of times. Click the </> again to get back to normal view.

the quoting does work, I find you have to give it a moment after hitting the button before typing though & its definitely not clear as i'm finding people typing within the quote box all over the threads that I subscribe to which makes for difficult reading (possibly clicking into the box which doesn't appear to be needed if on desktop view)
    - Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted
    - Student Loan gone
Swagbucks, Mingle, GiffGaff, Prolific, Qmee & Quidco; thank you MSE every little bit helps

Quoting other members works. Starting a post with a quote of, say with off site material from a newspaper, doesn't work.

    Like that you mean

Click the format symbol (musical note thing) and select quote

A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital following a crash in Faversham.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the incident involving a car and motorbike in Whitstable Road at about 11.45am.
    Seems to split lines though
And you can edit - click on where the edit symbol should be !
