Child benefit question

Good evening,
My partner and I are splitting up and our children are coming with me. As he earns over the Child Benefit threshold, I haven't been claiming for the last few years.
I work but earn nowhere near what he does but I'm unclear as to whether or not I will be able to restart Child Benefit once I'm on my own again, or if his wage still factors even though we are permanently separated.
I can find plenty of advice online about what happens if someone moves IN and are above the threshold but absolutely nothing, or nothing clear, about what happens in my situation.
Any advice gratefully received.
Thank you.

I would imagine that it’s just the reverse of the situation you have described. You will need to let them know you have separated and take it from there.1

If circumstances change, for example income changes or partner moves in or out, tell HMRC to make sure any payments that you’re entitled to or tax that you need to pay are correct. Guidance on what changes to notify and what steps to take can be found on the HMRC website.
