Qatar Airways or Swiss air

Ok all you lovely people I am looking at flights for November  to Hong Kong and returning a couple of weeks later returning from Singapore I need to have business class there is very little difference in price but looking at the reviews Qatar dont seem to be great if there is an issue has anyone used either of these airlines on business and can give their views Thanks in advance

I’ve never flown Swiss but I’ve been very happy with Qatar in both economy and business.  They are currently upgrading a lot of their planes to the new Q-suites in business which are lovely.   A friend of mine who uses them up to 10 times a year would never fly with anyone else if it were possible!

Have you looked at Singapore?  That’s a great airline.

That's odd that you've seen negative reviews for Qatar in business class, they rank up as one of the best, if not the best.

onwards&upwards is right to suggest Singapore too, also one of the top carriers. https://www.airlinequality.com/ usually has the score when it comes to individual airlines, and https://seatguru.com/ will help you pick the best available seat within your fare class and for the specific aircraft you will be flying on (when you know that fact).

I have recently used both QR (Qatar) business and LX (Swiss) to fly to Cape Town.  QR often offer lower priced flights, but if pricing for you is similar, then a direct comparison may be useful.  Here's what works for us.

• Aircraft:  QR are far superior, using modern Airbus A350-900 and A350-1000 with Q-Suites.  Some Boeing 787.  LX offer shorthaul A320 family to Zurich and tired old A340 beyond.  (HK may differ.)
• Interior: QR have Q-Suites. LX don't.  Far more space and comfort and nicer ambience with QR.
• Cabin service:  QR seem to have fewer passengers per employee.  Service is relaxed.
• Catering: LX has more standard choice, though QR is good for Arab specialties.  Alcohol is no problem.  We prefer LX.
• IFE: QR more modern but wider choice with LX.  We prefer LX.  We didn't use inflight wifi.
• Toilets:  QR impeccably clean.  They stock toothbrushes and toothpaste and razors in convenient takeout packaging.
• Goodies: decent pyjamas and toilet bags on overnight flights with QR, much less with LX.
• Airport lounges: both OK.
• Total journey time:  LX normally quicker for us to CPT, though perhaps less so to HK.

The missus found us a great deal First Class with Swiss.

And the flight LHR/Zurich/Singapore was excellent as was the First Class Lounge in Zurich.

Been meaning to try Qatar BC but haven't yet.

Check around for prices.

I think when the OP said:

he/she is referring to their reputation for poor service in the event of something going wrong, not the actual flight experience.  This does seem quite prevalent in reports.

Swiss Air say they have cancelled all bookings due to Covid 19 and say that those wishing to travel must rebook,  but I can still make a booking for the same flight, however the price has gone from £30 to £330. I was notified of this within 3 days of travel, I am due to fly on the 17th March 2020. Can they do this?
