anyone successfully rented a car in Palermo?

We are planning to hire a car for a week in May , from Palermo city or the airport. All i can find is horror stories of various companies ripping customers off. Has anyone recently had a  car hire in Palermo which you can recommend?thanks

Those who got ripped off just fell for the sharp practices of the hire car companies who need the naive rubes to subsidize their unsustainable headline prices.

Let them know you're not a sensible target and you'll be fine.

If I were you I would stick to the international car hire companies - Avis, Hertz, Enterprise.etc I would avoid Goldcar as they have a reputation for ripping off people as well as a few other companies. I find Avis/Enterprise type companies are much more reputable and helpful, yes they'll try and sell the extra insurance, but all companies do that. Just book the excess insurance with a separate company for a lot cheaper to protect yourself. (eg. carhireexcess.com)

Although any car hire company has unscrupulous employees, so always be aware of everything you sign for and understand what you're paying for.
