one quote around £800 and the other around £400. The total area is roughly 31m^2. For a third quote that includes laminates (brand Estilo -10mm) and scotias, the estimate is around £1450 mark.
Are these quotes from people who have actually visited the property? Perhaps the £400 installer thought the subfloor was fine, and the £800 installer thought it's a bit uneven and needs ply down first.
    Thank you for your reply.
Yes - both quotes are from people who visited the property. comments above makes me wonder if i should just go with the £400 quote.
  • My husband laid laminate in the bedrooms of our daughter's house, she  chose a laminate that was priced around £12 per sq m as it was on special offer.  It looks really good.  There are lots of specialist carpet/laminate/wood flooring outlets, you should visit a few to get an idea of prices before choosing.
It was very easy to use.
She did not need any Scotia as she was having new skirtings, but at her previous house he undercut the door frames and used scotia  to match the white skirting, she purchased it on line I think.  He also used cork expansion strips all round, again from Screwfix.

If you have any DIY skills, you will find laminate easy to lay, otherwise I  think you will find the fitting cost is more than the materials cost.

    This place ...... https://www.factory-direct-flooring.co.uk/

has a good selection of all types of flooring and will send out samples.  We have used them a few times and the service is very good.

Hi - thank you for your reply. we will also get a 5mm underlay with a 10mm laminate. i have to admit i have zero DIY skills. i will look at the flooring website to see how it compares with the quotes i am given but i agree the fitting cost is more than the materials which is a bit of surprise.
