I’m not being rude, but do people still fall for this rubbish ?
I seem to get a few of these calls and I play along with it....it’s so obvious these people are trying to scam us......
    people.....be careful out there......
YES they do on a daily basis. No matter how much gets publicised at them, there is always a new twist on them.
To me, and I deal with people that have fallen for them. Is !!!!!! would any company/HMRC want payment in APPLE VOUCHERS. That should be the trigger that screams NO.

On a lighter note what would have happened if you kept the £5,000 they put in?
You seriously think they paid anything in????

That would be wishful thinking, sorry I mistook OP comments. For anyone else theres a chap on youtube his name is Jim Browning. He takes on the scammers and gives you an insight in how they work and how they target the elderly. He manages to stop a Canadian fellow a few months back from being scammed for 40k. Check him out, very informative.
Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives
call your credit card company, tell them that you want to leave, 99% of the time theyll lower your APR%
Remember when that Bank Manager or Salesperson smiles at you, all he sees is £ notes. Dont forget the motto, "the wider their grin, the more debt your in"

Maybe I'm paranoid, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. I'd use another phone to return the call even if called on my mobile. It should only be a problem on landlines, but I'm not taking bets on hackers' ability to work out a way of doing it on mobiles.
If you are dealing with someone sophisticated enough to have taken over your mobile then you have bigger problems.

If any money ever turns up in your account during a scam then it's likely from someone elses account and the transaction will be reversed due to fraud. If you are lucky you won't get a CIFAS marker.
