Last year I swapped jobs to a min wage role, as I was in a managerial position however I had a mental health issue - which I now just manage with medication and the fact my job is less stressful
I am just scraping by financially speaking. However now I need to find £600 fast (like within the next seven days) due to an emergency. Completely unforeseen.
I have been looking at getting a second job, but this will not help my immediate situation
I could get a loan, but I wouldn't be able to afford to pay it back, literally every penny is accounted for each payday. I don't have family to borrow from. I don't have friends to borrow from
I have listed a few things on e-bay but don't have much of value to sell and will likely raise about £20
I don't even know why I am typing this, as tbh I would be surprised if anyone can come up with any ideas that I haven't yet thought of
Just dont know what to do anymore

There might be different options for you, depending on what the emergency is. I can understand you being reluctant to share the full details on a public forum; not everyone is willing to provide advice, but if you can tell us some more, you may get better help. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

Realistically I cannot see a way of getting £600 in hand within a week. If you had something large to sell then maybe it could be done - do you have a phone or some tech that's worth money you could try on a cash basis on Facebook or Gumtree?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Well, it might not be "your" emergency, is it for a friend?
There may be other options, or more time available, depending.
Is it something you need to buy, money owed, bail needed?
But if you can't afford to repay it, I doubt anyone will lend it.How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
Does anyone have any actual suggestions?Rita, get your head, off my leg..0

I can understand you being reluctant to share, and I don't understand why people are not taking you at face value, , Ok so you need £600 within a week
I like the above posters advice about selling your phone (if you have a decent one) or any tech. I think it CAN be done, but I am sure you realise you will have to make sacrifices to make it happen
I have been where you are now, and sympathise. Itll be OKWith love, POSR1 -
What's in your attic? Old consoles, games. Childrens toys and comics do well. Forget ebay and try the collector shops.
Do you have a friend or acquaintance that has a business where you can do a couple of days labouring for cash? Gardening or odd jobs in the local area?Make £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023
Make £2024 in 2024...1 -
Some good ideas, thank you all
Feel like such a waste of space, despite working full time, I am not covered for emergencies at my age

Why is your age an issue, what cover for emergencies would you have if older?
Is it related to SSP?How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0
