Proof of funds

Options
Hi I have some legal paperwork and they want proof of funds for deposit. I had my nationwide help to buy isa and also the main account for nationwide. It has taken many years to save up from my main bank Halifax.

I would transfer £200 into my natiowide current account then move that over to the isa account. Would they need every single statement from Halifax to show I have moved that money?

Thank you

You'll need to ask your solicitors what they need (if they haven't told you), there aren't any universal rules about these things. The norm would be to look back a few months, not years.

They haven’t specified on the form what they want exactly. Just asking to tick where funds have come from. Then explanation and I have to send proof. Doesn’t explain what proof on savings bit

Bit useless of them. Ask them.
  • If it's just proof of funds held for the deposit, a bank statement from the ISA.

For money laundering I'd suggest the last 6 months statements for the 3 accounts, and a final statement showing the transfer from the ISA to the solicitor.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
  • If this is the initial form you are completing for your solicitors they just want to know if the funds are coming from savings, the sale of a property or a gift. A single bank statement showing your savings will be fine for now. They may ask for other statements in the future but 1 will be enough to get the ball rolling.
    Good luck with your purchase
