Change locks. Inform previous occupant they need to agree a time with you to pick up items and give them a deadline to do so after which you will dispose of them. This will focus their minds pretty quickly. If they have been without the stuff since October they are clearly not that bothered about it.3

Absolutely do not allow them to keep a working key. If you cannot change the locks today (which i would advise) buy a sliding bolt lock and fit that. They don’t have any right to access your house and promise to post the keys!3

The ex partner was at the property when we arrived halfway up the property on ladders removing cameras from the house. He had removed a vanity mirror from the bathroom which was included in the fixtures and fittings leaving exposed live wires in the bathroom. He also refused to move all the stuff out the garage saying it wasn't his. There is wardrobes in 2 of the bedrooms, wendy house trampolines and other large children's toys in the back garden which we had told would have been removed before we moved in. There seems to be malicious damage to a radiator where a thermostat has been removed and now is leaking substantially to the point the heating isnt working due to low pressure even when topped up after 10 - 20 mins errors again. Theres also damage in one of the bedrooms where someone has deliberately wrenched shelves of the wall rather than undoing the screws so now the plaster in that area is ripped off. I've been on to the solicitor and they've said they will contact the seller and keep receipts of anything we do re fixing problems but I'm so upset.3

Oh no, that’s so awful. Poor you. I’m sorry you’ve obviously been caught up in a spiteful couples arguments. That’s such bad form. I’d try and claim whatever I could back in your case, as well as claiming for changing the locks as he hasn’t given you the keys and clearly is not a nice person.3

Oh that is awful and exactly what you don't need on completion day. There have obviously been some lies told if yesterday this guy was supposed to be in hospital and unable to remove his stuff but today is up a ladder. Make sure you take photos of all the malicious damage and if any of the areas affected are included in the photos on the sale advert take a screenshot of them to show the condition it was in when viewed and sale agreed.5

Yes we've taken photos of everything and sent them to the solicitor. I hadn't sent sales images but I will do now thankyou. Don't let this affect your enjoyment of your house, I once bought from a "warring" ex couple and arrived to bare wires hanging out of the wall and ceilings as one of them had removed light fittings. There were holes in plaster where somebody decided to remove shelves but it was all reasonably easy to fix.
The things that are annoying you now will simply become a "do you remember when" story in the years to come.11 -
As above, the plaster damage will be easy enough to fix - you can get pots of plaster repair stuff from B&Q for a tenner or so, and it's a simple job. Definitely, get the locks changed, and if it were me, I would be tempted to get some sort of security camera setup to keep an eye on things depending on what sort of budget you have remaining after the expense of a house move. What a nightmare. Hope ours goes better.3
