Only if she lets it. She should be listening to her solicitor not the estate agent. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.6 -
Had a phone call from EA saying they've had confirmation to release the keys but dont have them as yet. They will ring us when they have them, not heard from seller today so hopefully I was stressing over nothing.elsien said:Only if she lets it. Please let us know how it goes, won't you?3

Sounds like the seller doesn't realise how serious the situation is for them and are dragging their feet. Partner being in hospital or whatever is no excuse, there are removal companies a plenty.
If you are in contact with the vendor, apply some pressure - explain to them that you have to pay cancellation fee for your removal company and you might have to move to a temporary accommodation - all at their expense if they fail to complete on time. This might re-focus them0 -
Good luck! There's plenty to stress about in your situation. Hopefully it will have been for nothing. I have so many grey hairs from stress that turned out not to be needed during house selling/buying !0

So been and got the key ! One key only as apparently the ex partner has back door keys so he can empty garage. Apparently he will post through back door keys when done. EA said it's not unusual but I'm really not happy.3

Good result. Now go and by replacement cylinders for all locks and fit them as soon as you move in. Plenty of youtube videos on how to do it, worst case scenario call a locksmith to do it for you.cybele2003 said:So been and got the key ! Vendor and ex-partner can ask you to provide them access to their possession when they arrive to collect, giving sufficient notice.
They have NO business accessing YOUR property without permission, yet alone holding keys to it.19 -
It is prudent to change the locks once you are in, so I would do that asap. Apart from this person who feels he has the right to let himself in, you have no idea who else may have sets of keys.cybele2003 said:So been and got the key ! As above, but I would also let the estate agent know a deadline. If you want to go further, and I would be tempted, I would let your solicitor know that the house still has contents and they should be aware that after the deadline, items will be disposed of and to let the vendor know this.4
