  • We used one those plastic stick on hooks last year. Stick it at the top of the inside of the door then tie some strong string round the hook. Pass the string over the top of the door to the outside then attach the wreath to the string.

I used to live in a small block of flats and we had one of those 'Moose Head' ornaments that sang 'Santa's fallen underneath his sleigh' at anybody who knocked on my door (OK on an 'indoor front door' IYKWIM) but now have nowhere to put him.) A bit reluctant to hang him on our 'proper front door' - may have to chance putting him out only when we're expecting visitors!

Aldi has some in for a fiver artificial ones but quiet nice about 3-4 different types. I got some led lights about 240 for £13 too
  • I made this one a few years ago - we have an old fashioned door so we put a nail in the inside and looped the string over the door....

It's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice

I don't like wreaths at Christmas , you can never get away from them looking funerial or like they've been nicked from the cenotaph, i always think..

lights on the trees in the garden, on the other hand....
    :j
  • I'm not very artistic so didn't attempt a wreath last year. I just gathered some holly with plenty of berries, made a large bow and slipped the ribbon ends over the top of the door attaching them to a hook the other side.

    It looked seasonal anyway! :D

After my little ceramic pumpkin going walkies this year (i carved a real one too!) I didn't fancy spending ages making a wreath just to have that go walkies too. I now feel really daft that I didn't think of attaching it by having something going over the top of the door! We have an old wooden door so can attach with a screw.

I know if they really wanted it they'd still get the thing off but hopefully it'll confuse the dim ones enough not to bother, and the slightly cleverer ones will be there long enough to get caught!

Last one I made was covered in holly and my hands did not thank me for it! I'm thinking of something slightly more funky this year made with ribbon and possibly beads (just trying to think what i have in the house). I never know how something is going to turn out til I start.

I was feeling really bah humbug today so hopefully this will put a smile on my face again...

(btw the pics posted up so far are lovely, keep em coming!)
hey there's no money but we couldn't be happier if we tried

  • good idea with the ribbons and beads, was going to use a wee bit of holly though. will probly only display it outside when am at home though, just in case.....something else to remember and do in the morning
