LG TV bad sound

I recently bought a new LG 4k smart TV (model 43uk6300plb). I am generally happy with it apart from the sound, when I watch TV or films I find I struggle to hear the characters voices. If I watch an action film the explosions are very loud but at the same volume I struggle to hear the actors voices in other scenes. Is there a setting I can use to fix this problem?
My previous TV was a 9 year old Sony LCD 40 inch TV and that didn't suffer the same issue.
Thanks

For a start I can assume old TV had a bezel and front facing speakers of a decent size (wattage). And least you missed the time with rear facing very low quality speakers (for those that want to annmoy their neioghbours?).Now yuu get bottom down facing speakers. Smaller so wattage is still worse but better than the rear ones tended to be (sweaping generalisations to be taken as such).I like my LG TV. Has 10W down speaker, previous LG had 30W front though so obviously better.Tv's are a lot cheaper. Want to know how they have accepted this,. Becuase you need to buy a sound bar if it bother you. Still cheaper than before with the cost of both anyway.Or maybe you have just chosen bad settings. Thinks need setting up you know and differnet things you watch need sdiffernet settings.Or maybe your ears / attention span. I use subtitles these days. Can be annoying on some things though. Where a non english program has the subs and dubbing (and use dub if good!) both done from original and come up with different things. But hey.0

Before buying a soundbar I'd try using any powered speakers you may have (the type sold for use with computers etc) and/or plugging the TV into your stereo if you have one in the same room.
Using the TV's headphone socket should allow you control the volume using the remote once you've set the speakers or stereo to around the correct level.0 -
Pretty much all televisions sound rubbish with the built in speakers. To get better sound you will need some external speakers or a half decent soundbar.

We recently updated our tv to a very similar model. Assuming similarities extend to audio....and controls of it.....It could well be that the frequency balance you hear is not 'flat' with excessive bass compared to those frequencies that give voices clarity - the upper mid range. Suggest you try the following, depending on your installation!1 if the base of tve tv is on or close to soft furnishings the higher frequencies will not be reflected to you as much as the lower. If possible keep above a hard surface such as a unit or shelf by 50 to 100 mm.2 If mounted on a wall can it be moved away from the wall by a similar amount to above?3 if positioned in a room corner try and keep it away by 300 to 400 mmRoom acoustics can have a big affect on heard sound upsetting the frequency balance and thus bomming of the bass and clarity of higher fequencies. Flat tvs tend to get close mounting (as well as downward speakers) so all the above can make a significant difference.4 if that cannot or does not work for you then investigate the sound control you have on your tv probably settings/sound/advanced to see if there is equalisation options. (Ours does) if so try reducing bass frequencies in the range up to about 350hz and increasing higher frequencies in general but especially in the 2 to 8 khz region to extra clarity to voices.Do not overdo it (if yours has a scaled indication try about 6db extra in the higher frequencies and 6 to 12 db reduction in those lower frequencies)Also worth checking that the sound settings are 'standard' rather than 'cinema' for starters -if that applies.I appreciate high quality sound and whilst our tv does not give studio of hi fi quality I do not see the need for a soundbar for our lg sound to be acceptable. A good sound bar will enhance your audio but as an MSEr do not fall for the hype and extra expense without trying the cheap alternatives first!!0

I had a similar problem on my laptop. It was set up for 5.1 sound, but only has stereo speakers. Was fine after reconfiguration.
Nip onto google, paste in 43uk6300plb and visit the LG site. Under Support, there are 3 options: Email, Phone and Live Chat

Thanks everyone, I will have a look at the TV tonight and have a play with all these settings and let you all know if it has helped. I particularly appreciate the suggestion about the hz frequencies as I dont have a clue about that kind of stuff.

Got a recent LG one myself and the sound isnt too bad on it, but bought a wireless LG soundbar and subwoofer - and the difference is unreal0
