Flight Refund for Pregnancy

Hi all, My mum has booked a holiday for me and her to New York in September with Virgin Atlantic. Unfortunately the week we fly will be the 36th - 37th week of my pregnancy and the cut of is the beginning of 36 weeks. She has paid so much for the holiday and I feel awful that I wont be able to go. I have looked at Virgins website and all I can gather is if my mother were to take someone else they would have to purchase a new ticket as tickets cant be transferred to other people. They only mention date changes or refunds for illness or death. I am really stuck what to do! We have not bought travel insurance yet. Can someone help?

When did you book? What does your travel insurance policy say?

The OP hasn't bought any insurance yet, perhaps because she didn't know of her Mum's plans to book the trip.

Whilst it is always recommended that you buy travel insurance immediately after booking in fairness I am not sure many travel policies would cover you for not being able to travel due to pregnancy.

I think you really need to have a discussion with Virgin Atlantic.    Perhaps consider and ask if they would allow you to travel earlier in your pregnancy, perhaps May or June.

Have you tried speaking to them? Maybe they will let you change dates, although honestly it is very unlikely.

Sorry but I didn't realise this was an old thread. Possibly the lack of dates on the new site.

This one is not an old thread.

I agree that it would be helpful however for the new site to have posting dates in the top bar.
