FOS decisions are only binding on the consumer if you accept them.

You are free to reject the FOS decision, and sue the bank through the courts instead, if you wish.

Of course that would involve paying lawyers, paying court fees and may not leave you with any compensation if you are unsuccessful.

How did they obtain your driving licence and cheque? If you can't post the full version then there is little point asking for help.  On the face of it I can't see you getting any further.
I have asked the question more than once, is there someone who can deal with the ombudsman on my behalf? Expecting someone to possibly signpost an organisation who offer advice or advocacy, that's all! There's been a couple of welcome comments but I don't see how telling the full story will benefit me, obviously there's an entertainment value to some so sorry to let anyone down there but I won't be adding anymore detail about what's happened so to be blunt if you've got nothing constructive or positive to offer don't comment, I'm sure there'll be a page turner in another post for you to while away your spare time reading

A solicitor but it may be worth asking at your local CAB office before paying for advice .

It's not about entertainment value. It's about having the full facts to know if you have a worthwhile case.

Has the incorrect default been removed now, or does this require the ombudsman’s ruling?

Hi much did you lose in the fraud and what evidence do you have about why/how the bank allowed the fraud to take place?
Can't say anymore as there's still a police investigation ongoing, apart from someone " obtained an old driving licence and a cheque sent to me from a address I moved out weeks before, they opened the account with the cheque online and the bank have them £500 instant overdraft without them having to present themselves at a branch they spent the lot  and because the bank didn't try hard enough to find me (imo) I only found out when I went to buy something and there was said default on my account, because it took me so long to come forward the bank are claiming absolution and the ombudsman is basically agreeing with them, can I get any help from someone with this!!
How long did it take? You've got six months from the date of the complaint resolution with the financial institution to take it to FOS. Furthermore, if you're complaining about something that happened more than six years ago, or more than three years after you realised (or should have realised), the complaint will be time-barred and FOS won't be able to consider your case.

I agree that the bold part is ambiguous. I read it as the OP raised the issue as soon as they found out, but they didn't find out until a long time after the default was placed because they hadn't tried for any new credit arrangements. (This act was how they found out).
