You can take whatever legal action you like, but you'll have to weigh up whether it's likely to get you what you think is reasonable.7 -

Did they explain why they think the paltry compensation offer is fair? If not, I would try to ask them, and also ask them why your view of an appropriate compensation amount is not correct. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

Hi thanks for your reply, no this is a case of "think yourself lucky" according to him and "if I were you I'd take the 150 quick or I'm sending it up the chain and you'll be waiting another two years with an incorrect default on your credit report" kind of deal he's offering. I've being waiting two years and don't think the damage done to my credit rating, never mind the distress of the ID theft and subsequent fraud the bank have allowed to happen that lead me here, have been taken into account at all.tacpot12 said:Did they explain why they think the paltry compensation offer is fair? At this point he is not prepared to make his finding official if I don't accept the 150!!! I don't feel he's being impartial and can't take the mental anguish this is and has caused BUT don't think walking away with a token gesture will help me feel vindicated in any way. Can I get any help with this from anywhere?0 -
Has the incorrect default been removed now, or does this require the ombudsman’s ruling?
Hi much did you lose in the fraud and what evidence do you have about why/how the bank allowed the fraud to take place? The comments I post are my personal opinion. Can't say anymore as there's still a police investigation ongoing, apart from someone " obtained an old driving licence and a cheque sent to me from a address I moved out weeks before, they opened the account with the cheque online and the bank have them £500 instant overdraft without them having to present themselves at a branch they spent the lot and because the bank didn't try hard enough to find me (imo) I only found out when I went to buy something and there was said default on my account, because it took me so long to come forward the bank are claiming absolution and the ombudsman is basically agreeing with them, can I get any help from someone with this!!tacpot12 said:Has the incorrect default been removed now, or does this require the ombudsman’s ruling?

How did they obtain your driving licence and cheque? If you can't post the full version then there is little point asking for help. On the face of it I can't see you getting any further.2
