.  In a normal street you’ll just look like weird lifeguard wannabes peering over into your neighbours’ space.
We have a couple of voyeurs nearby, though our area is far from 'normal.' The hostility towards them is palpable. They upset a local person and found two scrap vehicles permanently sited in their line of view. Karma.

Can you improve the garden you have? Lots of pot plants. A few hundred pounds worth, but you take them with you when you move, so the net cost is nil.

I’m afraid that the repo makes your very nice house look expensive, so I doubt you will sell until that one is off the market.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Non-standard construction?  NO-NO!  For that kind of money it is easy to find brick houses...
My house is a brick house
It is easy to get confused, there were a lot of pre-fabs built in that area and then the council added a lot more brick homes decades later. I guess they have done something to improve the pre-fabs as they did have notorious damp problems, but are still standing and being bought and sold. So the area isn't the greatest in itself, but you have countryside nearby and the sea! Plenty of opportunity to walk along the coastal path of Swansea Bay, very near to the Mumbles area which is popular and bustling and easy access to the Gower Peninsular. In the other direction you have an easy journey/ commute into Swansea centre, In terms of value for money there is a lot to be said for the location.
Compare to prices nearby and you are getting a bargain.
I have family living in other pockets outside the west of Swansea, the houses may be nicer but they are a lot more expensive!

If no one is interested in your house at 170k then increasing the price to 180k is not going to help.

Find another estate agent to give you an honest opinion on value and problems.

A balcony would put me off a house (has it been installed correctly, what maintenance will it need going forward etc). The fact you’re listed with purple bricks would also put me off. Having worked in conveyancing most regular estate agents put a lot more work in behind the scenes than PB to get transactions through.

Our last house had a balcony - installed when the 4 bed detached property was extended in 1923/4 - and we loved its far reaching views over our large garden and open countryside.

Fairly small - just enough space for either a bench or a bistro set - it was accessed off the master bedroom which we used as an upstairs sitting room. Neighbouring properties were far enough away and screened by our trees that there was no danger of our overlooking them.

It's one of the things I miss about that house (which we sold because we hated the area) and I'd love to build one here but although we have no neighbours to overlook, we don't really have a suitable room to put one.

Our current home is in Wales and it does seem as though balconies are very popular here - probably because of all the stunning views - but the OP's house doesn't seem like an ideal candidate for one, imho.

I think - as always - it's the price that's the issue here......

Down here in rural  Devon, some people build raised  platforms to sit on and look over the high hedges at the views across fields. I spotted several last time I took the train to Exeter.  Definitely require PP, but most unlikely to have any.

i would be overlooking my neighbour if I installed one from this angle, as she can with me. Nothing on the right though. Yes it's a grim day and that hideous blue thing is a punch bag frame. I hope it somehow breaks in the very near future  :D

With no view to speak of what would be the point of a balcony? Overlooking a nice woodland would be fine if it were a bit further away but that front row of trees are imposing and blocking any further view

I agree. If a balcony meant you could see the sea it would be worth doing, but not for that view.
