Fraudster gets to know the limits. What do you think they will do?

Just because there's a limit it doesn't mean the bank might not trigger something else anyway surely. And really I'm sure the limits aren't that hard to figure out..so most likely can even find them on this forum.

No. If they know a banks limit is say £10K, then they will make a payment under that. Not knowing means that they will try something higher and run over the limit. Thus not getting anything.

Lloyds don't mind telling you that they've got a £60,000 debit card limit.

Presumably, in most cases of fraud the limit is irrelevant as customers won't have sufficient funds in their account to hit it anyway.

This scenario is quite common in my experience and can happen for a variety of reasons, some of which you mention-----and don't forget Bank's computer crashes which is always a good stand-by for Banks to use  >:)
It is one of the reasons why on earlier posts on this thread I have argued for the absolute need to have an overdraft facility. The responses I have got from the usual charm-school forum brigade  has been that I cannot manage my finances and that I am living a parasitic life style at the expense of the poor Banks.
But I agree with you entirely. If you have no overdraft , I recommend an arranged overdraft but always make sure that there is enough in your account (including the overdraft facility) to allow the occurrence you had ( small to medium payments which are subject to errors by the seller or Bank, or for unexpected emergency payment), not to attract penalties such as you face now and which are unfair.

How is this relevant to "most cases of fraud"?
