It has happened before. I owed £3K to Welcome Finance when I stopped paying them and bar the odd letter from debt collectors every six months or so they never actually took me to court and the whole lot dropped off my credit file after six years without me paying a pennypdbmn said:i have an actual debt which is £500 more than the original amount i owed, Moorcroft has been trying to contact me , should i just ignore it ? i'm thinking if i ignore it for 6 years it'll go away ... Do you feel proud about it?0 -
I’m constantly amazed at how people can seem so happy about not paying back debts. It’s selfish. It makes it harder for others to get credit at a decent rate should they want to. Thousands of pounds not paid back to X bank indirectly affects their other customers, too. Ordinary folk.2

It's just theft. Pure and simple. No different to the likes of shoplifting. It's stealing money from people.LordSomebody said:I’m constantly amazed at how people can seem so happy about not paying back debts. It’s selfish. People end up not paying their debts for all kinds of reasons, so i would prefer not to see words like "theft" banded about, if you would be so kind.Yes there are those who flout the system, and that is for them to reconcile with themselves, the vast majority end up in these situations by making bad choices, outside influences, or by sheer bad luck, and yes, stupidity.Debt collectors choose which accounts to chase, based on what they know of the client, if they feel the chances of collecting anything are slim, they will not always pursue it, or save it for a rainy day, so the OP may get lucky, and get away with it, or they may just end up being one of the 11% of cases that end up in court every year, yes only 11%, the other 89% either pay, or are not chased.Either way the creditors get some money back, they can also claim back some tax, every buisness model has scope built in for defaulters.Thats the end of this discussion.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
