Clearing 'New' flag.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but if it has been I can't find it.  How do I clear the 'new' marker from topics.  On the old forum, once you had entered and left a board, only post made since the previous visit caused a 'new' flag to be set.  Now, any topic I haven't been in to has the flag all the time.  Annoying to say the least.

Every time you leave the forum just click on Profile then Mark All Viewed.

Hmm, but if you view 15 different sub-forums, like I do, if I say start at one , by the time I've studied the 15th one, there may have been posts in the 1st one that I haven't seen.

Would it be possible to have a 'mark as read' on each sub-forum?

Manually marking in the profile is (a) a pain in the neck, and (b) as JB says, doesn't do the job properly anyway.  It seems that many Forums are removing the features which members find most useful.  The obvious assumption being that the developers are more interested in making their lives easier than in the functionality for the users.

I just looked again and we now have:-

Mark all viewed

and

Mark Category viewed

Maybe this is what we want?
