People seem to be complaining about the 'apparent' insensitivity of the DWP in writing to the Executor of a claimant's Estate who happens to be the 84 year old brother of the deceased.
I'm curious to know how people think the DWP would know the personal details of an Executor?1 -
Presumably from the probate details? Presumably that is also why they didn’t contact anybody before probate. It is part of the executor responsibility to establish any debts. Grant of probate gives them access to the estate funds to pay off debts. An executor can protect themself from liability by publishing notices in the London Gazette and a local paper.wilfred30 said:I'm curious to know how people think the DWP would know the personal details of an Executor?Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Thank you calcotti, although I'm surprised that an Executor has to give their age when applying for Probate!0

See where you’re coming from! I read your previous post as just wondering how they got the excecutor details. You make a good point.wilfred30 said:Thank you calcotti, although I'm surprised that an Executor has to give their age when applying for Probate!Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply to this thread👍
Thought I'd update for anyone who may find themselves in the same situation and to say there was nothing to pay back to the DWP.2
