Double hoolie here, bins etc blown over.........shed wobbles ominously when the wind gusts, hope it manages to stay upright. The sky is clearing and the sun trying to shine.
I have filled two flasks in case we lose power at some point. Living where we do its quite likely. If its off for any length of time we will repair to bed to keep warm. At least we can have hot soup. Have just sliced the loaf I made yesterday, will make a round of sandwiches for lunch and keep my fingers crossed we are able to cook supper. Have just decided to have lunch instead of supper, so pork cooked yesterday, a tin of peas and carrots from my store cupboard and potato in the big casserole. Hopefully the power will stay on for a bit and I can get everything heated through. OH tells me that the north west side of the country has a power cut, we are in the north east bit so fingers crossed. Will do the sarnies and put them in the fridge for tea time.
We have plenty of books to read.
I hope everyone else is safe, keep warm.

Morning allMy goodness what weather ! The rain is horizontal and I can't even launch the Ark 'cos it's too windy. (Who knows what mountain we'd land on next
)
Our DGS is still here and due a pick up after lunch sometime. At the moment he and Mr Fix it are shooting Zombies or Aliens or something. I was hoping for a bed all to myself last night as they were "camping" in the other bedroom, but no luck as apparently Mr Fix It was snoring, so here comes DGS trailing his pillow like a lost boy and besides which, my " bed is much more comfy "Our DGD has already booked herself in for about 2 weeks time at the end of half term !
I've spoken to Dad this morning and he's decided not to risk coming over for lunch, good call I think as the weather is supposed to get worse later today ! Lunch will be roast chicken, roasties, honey carrots, parsnips and veg, I also found some pigs in blankets in the freezer, so I will throw those in for good measure. Millionaires tart for pudding..... there goes the diet !TA we are high up too and I hate the wind. We've more chance of landslides hereHappycas I hope DH gets better soon. It will be nice to have him back home with you.Big Hello to all the Returners and the Newbies. I miss the wave smilieKeep safe and take care all.nan xx

Afternoon all! The bins have decided to slide down the drive and the cushion that was packed in plastic and hidden behind the bench has decamped to the side of the garage and I appear to have someone's felt roof in the garden. I'm a bit worried about the porch and lean to roof, they're both polycarbonate and there is a disturbing thrumming noise when the wind really gets up suggesting they are going for a flying lesson.Making chicken, mushroom and rice soup after, I love the tatse of the M&S one so I will naughtily go on their website, look at their ingredients and recreate it here. Much the same as the red cabbage one
Still have some of that in the freezer. I cooked the chicken thighs last night ready, I was going to buy some ready roasted legs and then I thought, what am I doing? It's cheaper to buy and cook yourself. Plus I get the benefit of crispy skin....
The fire is taking an age to get going today, it's been slowly burning for about two hours now and is only just getting up to speed...In the immortal words of Captain Esterhaus, Let's be safe out there....Or in mine, stay in and wrap up!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi9 -
Afternoon all. I'm another one who feels uneasy with high winds. We are staying in today. One fence panel is down already The wind is about 32 mph atm.
Well keep safe and warm folks.

I think we have a bit of a respite at the moment. The rain is not lashing as badly and the wind has eased a little bit.. I am not getting complacent I know it will be back. There was a bit of drama earlier on when our road resembled a river and those on the flat side had the water heading up their drives. For once I was glad I have the steps up to my house! There was much gesticulating and pointing going on further along until a man in a Dayglo coat appeared and took charge! They took all the drain covers off and bashed up and down with long sticks till the water set off down the drains. The road is now clear (and muddy!) To add to our misery the weather girl said there will be heavy snow later in the week but she didn't say where!
Welcome back Returners and a big welcome to Newbies. Hope everyone is staying safe and dry xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -

DH was hoping to do a few jobs outside today, but I don't think it's going to happen.We've just done jobs around the house, I hope the weather is a bit better tomorrow, I haven't heard a forecast.Hope to "see" everyone tomorrow, take care folks11
