NoodleDoodleMan said:Please clarify - you are currently residing outside the UK ?Westin said:Who has told you that your driving licence is no longer valid? Can you post any web links?Agreed, that needs clarification. The relevant Moroccan state official webpage, for information - https://www.consulat.ma/en/driving-licenseThat last link certainly makes it appear that the gov.uk advice is simply incorrect. I will try to get a definitive answer from the Moroccan consulate when the opportunity arises. As to your first question, I am simply away for a few months.

There is a freephone number for the UK on that Moroccan website - maybe you could get a relative or friend to enquire ?May be similar for the country you are currently visiting.Or call the AA or RAC for guidance.0

And what does the older version state?brianposter said:An older version of the advice seems to be here
"From 28 March 2019, you will need to have a 1968 International Driving Permit (IDP) to drive in Morocco."
So the requirement for an IDP in Morocco has been advised about for quite a while. What the paragraph illustrates is the complete incompetence that has been applied to carrying out Brexit. There are consequences that have been known about for years and yet little has been done to alleviate those consequences.28 March 2019 is actually the original ? Brexit date. When you say little has been done, do you mean by yourself? Many countries require you to have an IDP and it's been widely discussed that British citizens will be affected on leaving the EU. I obtained my IDP in May last year and knew I needed one for months before that. The 1968 Convention version is valid for 3 years.

If the UK government had done its job competently I would not have had to spend more than five minutes investigating what licence is required - Morocco would have been asked to accept British licences after Brexit and the gov.uk website would have correct and up-to-date information.
One would expect this to be entirely straightforward as the UK apparently accepts Moroccan licences.

Has it been established yet if a current valid UK driving licence is now not accepted in Morocco or not ?

What have driving licence requirements for non EU counties got to do with Brexit?2

Quite! It's a shame it got derailed because a thread to alert people to changes post Brexit would be useful.leylandsunaddict said:What have driving licence requirements for non EU countries got to do with Brexit?

The Eu has lots of agreements with other countries. When the UK left the EU these agreements should have been replaced by agreements between the UK and those countries, but in the case of driving licences this does not seem to have happened.leylandsunaddict said:What have driving licence requirements for non EU counties got to do with Brexit?

According to my local Moroccan consulate the standard UK driving licence is adequate for tourists in Morocco, which suggests that the gov.uk advice has been wrong for over a year.

I 'phoned the number quoted 0808 168 1734 (option 3 for English) and was very quickly connected to an advisor - a UK driving licence is good for up to one year for driving in Morocco, no need for a IDP.1
