Is anyone good at designing layouts?

There's a massive choice of apparently far more tempting places within three miles and £375-425k. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-76907572.html - detached https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-86945108.html - ticks your "halls adjoining" box https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-87978458.html - detached https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-75520390.html - detached https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-69911410.html - "link", gorgeous https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-68076195.html - detached, newbuild https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-77114011.html - hall adjoining https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-74055754.html - detached https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-67716324.html - detachedZoology_Dragon said:Here's the link. We're pretty fussy and haven't seen anything else that works or that we can make work. Not too stressed about it though, if this won't work something else will come along eventually. There are lots of three bed semis in our budget but if we buy a semi it needs to be halls adjoining rather than the more usual layout.

Honestly, any of those would be a better bet.1 -
Does seem well overpriced in view of what needs doing to it.

Thanks for looking! Location is the issue with most of those. We have to be walking distance to the city and to work, I realise I haven't shared that specific location but we're essentially limited to the areas of Heworth and Fulford. I think we will view the Fulford cottage, the garden looks small but it might feel right in other ways.AdrianC said:

Too far from work
https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-86945108.html - ticks your "halls adjoining" box
Very noisy location

Small garden, very noisy road (we've viewed this one).
https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-69911410.html - "link", gorgeous
Too far from work, no garden? It *is* gorgeous though.
https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-68076195.html - detached, newbuild
In a flood risk area (currently flooded...)
https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-77114011.html - hall adjoining
Small garden but we're considering viewing this one - thanks!

Im lost on why Anyone would ever want "halls adjoining", What are your reasons?

That Fulford one is lovely!

Because they don't share many walls for sleeping or living space. I don't tend to hang out in my hallway so I don't care if I can hear our neighbours in their hallway.markin said:Im lost on why Anyone would ever want "halls adjoining", What are your reasons?0 -
I wouldn't have thought the one off Broadway would be any noisier than the one on Stockton Lane. It gets busy at commuting times, but will be much quieter outside of those times.

I think this one is probably far back enough from Hull Road too.

As is Windmill lane

We've viewed both and the difference in noise levels was surprising. The Broadway house also has far too small a garden. Hull Road is crawling with students so that's a no go...kinger101 said:I wouldn't have thought the one off Broadway would be any noisier than the one on Stockton Lane. Hence "apparently"... The one thing we can never get from RM links is the subtleties of location.Zoology_Dragon said:Thanks for looking! Location is the issue with most of those.0 -
Of course, and if we weren't so constrained they *would* be better options so you have a point. I'm glad you posted the Fulford one though, I'm not sure why I originally dismissed that one.AdrianC said:
