Carers allowance, is some money taken from the person being cared for?

If they live alone and get AA then some means tested benefits they claim, such as CTR,  can include an extra allowance called a Severely Disability Premium but they cannot have this included if somebody claims Carer’s Allowance for looking after them.

Other benefits that would be affected are income based ESA, Income Support, Housing Benefit and Pension Credit.

There could be a disabled persons reduction. The best thing to do would be to contact your local district council benefits section; they would be best placed to advise you.  Also, Martin Lewis has run an article about this matter which is still available on the MSE website.
