So someone from HMRC(?) mentioned this in a phone call but you have had no letter, calculation or demand of any sort from them?
And you know for a fact that your tax to April 2019 was all ok as well?
I'm not sure this £900 actually exists.0 -

Have you logged in to your online account? This may help. If you have any savings it may be estimated interest. Look at your tax code for next year to see if it is the same. Hope this helps.2

You need to tell us the make up of the tax code, 776L on its own doesn't really tell us anything.0

First, there should be a link called something like "Check your tax free amount" - what does it say?
Second, in your income from employment section, it will show you how many jobs HMRC thinks you currently have. Is this information correct? I.e., check they don't think your old job isn't still live along with your new one. The lack of a P45 could be confusing them.
You can't take HMRC to financial ombudsman, they're not covered. There is an HMRC appeals process but first let's establish the situation before rushing to make a formal complaint.0 -
My tax free amount has gone from £12500 to £7768
If you know that then surely you know what has reduced the £12,500?
Is this something to do with the mysterious £900?
Reduction of £4,732 might collect £946 extra tax (£4,732 X 20%).
