The boiler is a Vokèra Option. There is an external timer but it doesn't seem to control how hot the water is in the boiler. I'll try to find a picture of that too. I'm not sure what the room thermostat would look like, do you mean a device on which you set the temperature and the boiler comes on automatically if the temperature drops below the set temperature? I haven't found one, currently sitting here at 15 degrees according to my freebie temperature gauge wearing my coat and two jumpers brrr

The hole on the boiler was a 24hr timer thats been replace by the controller. What time is the controller set to now? Just pressing the boost button once should put it on for an hr and should get the house hot!Have you asked the estate agent for help yet, if the is not a thermostat they should fit one and update the timer/controller.1

The pic failed to load just now, hot-linking is always risky. The is a chance the simply isn't one, or it could be hidden in a cupboard.1 -
Thank you so much for commenting. I've had a look online for pictures of room thermostats and have seen nothing like that around the house, there are no built-in cupboards. The heating has been on since 3.30pm, it's now 8.30pm and the temperature is 18 degrees only because we've had the expensive electric fire on as well. In the bedroom it's less than 15 degrees. We rent directly from the property owner rather than via a managing agent and it took five months to get a new back door despite a flooded kitchen from rain outside so I imagine interest in our heating issues would be nil.

Realised it was a tad chilly around 10:30, and turned the heating back on. 2 hours, 30 minutes later, temperature had gone from ~16°C to 18°C. Heating kicked in later this evening for another 1:30 to take the temperature up to 20°C. Upstairs bedrooms are a balmy 22°C...For heating to be on for 5 hours, I would expect to have a warm & toasty house. Are your radiators getting hot ?Most radiators are designed to work with a 70°C water temperature, so should feel real hot.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

FWIW I had the two large walls on my home stripped back, insulated and cladded last year. Cost a fortune but is worth every penny, but then I don't rent.No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.1 -
Is the anyone you can call to check its set up and working? If you are likely to live there for a while many years it may be best to just call a plumber and pay for it yourself, It will be costing quite a bit using the electric heaters so you will possibly save money if its around £150 to fit one.
