You may find this thread useful.

In particular, note that it's imperative that the immersion heater is only powered on the overnight E7 rate.  Ideally the E7 meter should do this so you don't have to worry; there would be a second immersion heater higher up in the tank for (expensive) emergency top ups if the water goes cold in the day, and this should be left off.

But if the landlord is a cheapskate there may be just one immersion heater fed from a 24h supply, possibly with a cheap mechanical timeswitch that may or may not have been programmed to match the E7 times, and may or may not be set to the correct time of day if a power cut has thrown it out of kilter.

Your homework is to check the exact E7 times:  dial 105 or look at the meter and see when it goes on and off, noting that there may be an expensive two-hour gap in the middle of the night.

I'm assuming you've not got gas but you say your shower isn't electric  then what heats the water for your shower.  Have you by any chance got a very big storage tank for that. Coupled with ceiling heating - bad news.

Yeah I have a 144L electric hot water cylinder which I get my hot water from. It heats up at night but I don’t know how long of. I have to take apart the timer to adjust the settings and I’ve been too worried about breaking it that I’ve never adjusted it
150 litre is standard. I once had ceiling heat. I thought they had all disappeared by the middle 80's. Your water will be  7 hours overnight every night cheap(er) rate.

    Control your life !

Never use landlord recommended supplier. Look at your online account, get on their best tariff. Buy a 3kW radiative (not convective) panel heater with 7 day timer and thermostat and comfortably heat your living area when in residence. You can switch off your 7 hours @ thermostat 3kW water off on your not needed away nights. Every hour of leccy for everything is full price daytime.

Assumption is long term let. You have till next winter to find more suitable accommodation. Best of luck.
