What is the electric heating  - storage rads, panel heaters ?
£510 in 3 months is not particularly high  - get into the habit of reading that meter - do it before and after your shower and you will be shocked.
After you moved in and gave your supplier your meter reads did you then change supplier - if not you will be on their standard (ie expensive tariff) 


Letting your landlord set up your account is often bad news - as is letting them read your meters.


I'm assuming you've not got gas but you say your shower isn't electric  then what heats the water for your shower.  Have you by any chance got a very big storage tank for that. Coupled with ceiling heating - bad news.

I’m with SSE Southern Electric, but definitely won’t be for much longer!

Why are you on E7 if you don't have storage heaters?  E7 gives you cheap electricity at night, but everything you use during the day is more expensive than a standard tariff.

Yeah I have a 144L electric hot water cylinder which I get my hot water from. It heats up at night but I don’t know how long of. I have to take apart the timer to adjust the settings and I’ve been too worried about breaking it that I’ve never adjusted it

As I’ve mentioned in other comments, the landlord arranged the electricity. This is the first time I’ve lived on my own so I just took the advise of my landlord

OP says wires in the ceiling.
