It might be that they are very worried about their possible liability should they admit that there is a problem with the lead that is due to a manufacturing defect and they are examining it to rule this out.boo_star said:I find it hard to believe that Apple would kick up such a fuss over replacing a cable bought from themselves.
Okay, no one was injured in the OP's case but if they simply replace the lead they could be seen to be admitting there was a problem with it, something that may have implications if dodgy leads turns out to be a far bigger issue in the future.0 -
What charger did you use, could be the charger faulty sending too much power down the cable ?0

They need to prove its one of theirs. There are thousands of fakes. You may have proof of purchase from Apple but you could have also bought 3 others from EBay. Apple need to examine the one you have to make sure it is genuine. Just having a previous order for one isn’t enough0
