Page numbers and sorting by newest or title

This is the sort function I'm really missing and used the most previously too. It seems adding ?sort=new on the end only sorts by newest posts on any thread, not the newest threads. (Luckily already figured out to deselect the 'What to search' replies and polls to only see threads, but still ordered by most recent post, not thread original post itself.  I've tried sort=title or sort=discussion or orderby=title to get the results in any useable order but they don't work. I've been googling other sort / orderby options but to no avail yet. If anyone finds something that works, please please let us know   

Also missing the usefulness of seeing the tick/x or in new world 'Entered/Skipped' showing on the search results page, like it does when viewing on the main forum competitions page. Having to open every thread to see if we've already entered it must be overloading the mse servers with all the additional volume of page requests traffic. Fingers crossed this is resolved soon.

Isn’t this the same as this https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/categories/competitions-time
 That’s what’s it was originally on, it sorts it by time posted, I compared competitions on this  link to this one https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/categories/competitions-time?sort=new and got the same order of competitions.

I wish this new site was more mobile phone friendly like the old green one, as I do all my competitions on my phone.

No. The first one above lists by date/time of latest post and the second one lists by date/time thread was started. To see any differences you have to look for threads where there has been replies. They won't appear in the same place in the ?sort=new list.
If you go to a thread, say three pages back, and add a comment, it will jump to the top of the list on the first url but will stay where it is on the second.

Ah ok I see, I never know which one I should use to make sure I don’t miss any competitions, so on the green site I used to always check both?
