Yes, it will be there sometime.  It is on their 'to do' list

Oh I do hope this is on the top of their list when starting to tackle this forum - it is my current biggest time waster and bug bare!

any chance we could have a post letting us know when useful changes actually get implemented? be useful to check the post for updates and additions without having to check through loads of posts to see if anythings been done or if theres a time frame for when they are actually going to add stuff back to the forum?

I think you would be far better posting questions like this in the site feedback forum. This is compers chat so highly unlikely anything specific will be posted here.

WHERE ARE WE WITH THE NEW FORUM

This update of 14/02 has been lifted from the Site Feedback Snagging Thread (which has now been closed). Normal Text is from MSE_Tine's update, Italic Text is my comments and explanation.

1. Issues now fixed/improved

• Historic deleted PM’s removed (initially every PM ever sent was displayed)
• Max post length has been increased. (This was a particular problem with historic posts that could not be edited due to this)
• Notifications not displaying. (The notifications system is now working as intended, except for a daily digest which is on the "to do" list below. Most user niggles can be fixed by correctly setting of the options in your "Profile","Edit Profile","Notification Preferences" and by sensible use of the "Bookmark" icon which appears to the left of the thread title in the main Forum View. Personally I think it is a great feature.)
•  "Edit" for first post in thread. (For a few days the original poster could not edit their first post of any thread)
• Removed the Duplicate post count on each post.
• Removed duplicated badges on profile view.
• Date & Time stamps and displays on posts, threads and thread list views. (Initially, only the time showed for today's posts and only the date for older posts. There is still work to be done on this for phone/tablet users - mentioned below)

2. Next up, we’ll be sorting:

• Ability to mark competitions as skipped/entered from List view (Not mentioned is the ability to do both for the same thread and to "unskip" and "unenter". Also not mentioned is extension of The Skipped/Entered facility to the Post/Phone/Text sub-forum and the Game Over sub-forum)
• Investigating sorting, filtering and expiring options for Competitions Board. (Default sorting is by "last post time". We can sort by "original post time" by using ?sort=new on the end of the URL, but we need a button or menu to do this properly. Sorting by "thread title" is a method to sort by end date and was used by end-date-compers on the old forum - at the moment you have to use "Search" for one day at a time and the Search Results display is poor. Filtering could mean anything, but the most common request is to filter using skipped/entered. Competitions are once again being moved to Game Over in bulk when the end date has been reached, but the facility to mark a thread as expired when the comp closes early is still needed)
• Date stamps on Mobile view.
• Functionality of cog etc on Mobile.
• Post numbering to enable easy linking to individual post. (Each post in a longer thread needs to be numbered. Posters like to refer to other posts by number (eg. answers in post #124) and although a work-around is being used to link to individual posts, this is fiddly for less confident users)

 
3. In the slightly longer term, here are a few more things already on our radar:

• Layout of Profile page for posts/threads made. (Ideally, the display of "my threads" should be exactly the same as the main forum list view with all the same data and functionality, including entered/skipped markers. The same applies to Search Results - see below)
• Badges.
• Post counts display.
• Bookmarking/subscribing when posting.
• Daily digest mails.
• Make it more obvious when post is thanked/Comp-limented (This is extremely important. Personally I would regard this as #1 priority. BG's have a tickbox on the teal bar of every post which would also be extremely useful to all users)

4. Important Issues Not Yet Mentioned (not in any particular order)

• Search Results should display like the full forum list view with all the same data and functionality including entered/skipped markers.
• Ability to easily post a functioning email address link, either automatically or by using a button, ie. without resorting to using HTML coding
• Loss of HTML coding previously inserted whenever you subsequently edit your post.
• Expansion of post formatting options, especially colours and font size, extended to underlining and maybe an expanded selection of emojis.
• The display of a portion of the post when you "Hover" on the thread title in Forum View is greatly missed
• In Forum View the ability to see an "I've commented on this thread" icon or marker is greatly missed
• In Search boxes especially, the Browser Form Filler drop down function is suppressed (This means you have to type the search term in full every time - no fun searching for "countrywideveganlivingmagazine"  several times when previously I only had to type "cou" and select it from a drop down menu)
• Number of threads (Forum View) and replies (Thread View) per page - people would like more, or the option to select more. Also applies to Search Results where only 10 results are shown per page.
  
• Ability to see who has thanked a post - even if 130 people have thanked a post you can only see names of 10 of them.
• No "preview" when writing a PM

Others subsequently added:

• A method is needed for a user to delete/clear Notifications.
• An indication of whether a user is online would be useful (especially in thread view, but also in forum view for the OP if possible).
