Henry HooverNever, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

Another vote for Henry - every contract cleaner has one.0

Pedant alert:
Henry isnt a Hoover, its a vacuum cleaner.
Hoover is a brand of electrical good, not an electrical good of itself. The product you want is a vacuum cleaner. Unless you want to limit your vacuum cleaners specifically to those produced by the company Hoover.1 -
My excellent carpet cleaner recommends Henry.0

Henry Hoover
I have a cylinder vacuum that is quite a lot larger than the 'Henry' and its great when using the hose, not very good for carpets.
Something like this.

I have just bought a new brushroll bar for my Dyson DCO7, which is great for carpets.0 -
All domestic vacuum cleaners were restricted in power by Johnnie Europe so are not very powerful for tough jobs. Better to get a true industrial cleaner which is not restricted in power.0

For that sort of use I'd consider getting one of then get a decent domestic vacuum at a later date - https://www.screwfix.com/p/titan-ttb430vac-1400w-30ltr-wet-dry-vacuum-cleaner-240v/704720

My builder used a Henry and it was great for picking up dust, small rubble and stripped wallpaper, which would destroy a domestic vacuum. But I went over floors/carpets with my Shark and it picked up lots of dust that the Henry left behind. I've had to wash the filter to get rid of plaster and brick dust, but it's coped very well. So, as neilmcl says, get a heavy duty for the work in hand but it may not have the finesse you need for a day-to-day cleaner."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0

"hoover", when not capitalised (as in the first line of the opening post) is widely accepted as a generic term for a vacuum cleaner and is used as such by a great many people. You have probably used this term at some time in your life.0
