  • Gentle hug for RedRuby, on top of your daughters problems you now have that to deal with.

Sunny morning, but still quite a breeze, off to the little chapel for coffee and a chat shortly, then hopefully a dentist visit to finally collect DB's plate. If they put it off again I will be really angry, we have spent 6 days waiting when they said it would be back last Friday.

White load to go in the washer, doubt if it will go on the line, will see.

No idea about supper depends on whether the plate is back.

Redruby, I'm sorry to hear your news. I'm another who has had treatment for LCIS but it was just a lumpectomy - I didn't need further treatment thankfully, PM me if you want to. I shall be thinking of you.

Morning all! In sunny (yes, it is!) Wales for more clearing of things. The boot will be full again soon. At least three of the broken washing machines have been taken by the scrappy and the old bedstead. Perhaps I could have given that to someone to use as a period piece but honestly, the longer it goes on, the less energy I have to recycle , I want to say ethically but that's not what I mean....what's the word?
Sister will be up in a bit to help me get an exercise bike downstairs, a very old and heavy one, and there's quite a few bags of fabric of one type of another so they'll go too.

Bells, so sorry to hear about your pooch, they leave a massive hole....TA, hope you manage to get a nice post. My friend has a massive affair with a basket type bed thing in the middle, her cat loves it and is always laid in it when I see him. Mehefin, ain't it always the way, just when you thought it was all sorted, that must have been terrifying! Gers, good to hear your both improving and your mam is on board with decluttering and that you had a great night! Nanny, nah, no grey, just paint :) Ruby, yes, complete shock...there are quite a few of us here who have been through that, and any one of us will help you if we can, and I'm sure that everyone will support you... I would say write down any questions you have about the treatment before you see them because you'll say one thing and then the rest will go out of your head. Also, I would Google for the type of questions you should be asking, the McMillan site is very good, also the breast cancer site. It's a bit earthshattering hearing that on top of all your other worry but they're on the case and the NHS were mostly fab for me.
Hey all reading along, hope you're doing ok, Working hard Wednesday!

Morning all, woke up to blue skies then the fog came down quickly, lifting now but not as sunny as it was early on .Better than yesterday when I had to change my jeans after dogwalking I got so wet.
RRuby, I am so sorry you have had this news, especially on top of the worry with DDs ex recently. What an awful shock for everyone, I am thinking of you and sending big hugs
Gers you sound refreshed, it's amazing what good company and a change of scene can do :)
Jackie sorry you're having boiler trouble. We had s.o. out to ours just after New Year as it hadn't fired up in a week.He hardly did anything & it started working  but it isn't very old.We were just glad to be warm again, these old stone cottages are freezing!
DGD is still away but DGS here later to stay over.I'd better put a loaf in the bm,he loves it fresh :) Might do shepherds pie for tea.
    Warm wishes to all xx

I forgot...dumpling, hope your scan goes well. Friends like that are lovely..Jackie, ouch, steep but better to be warm! Happy bespoke coat times ahead! DP, good to hear she recovered fairly quickly and didn't stay in too long..double worry! Apologies for what else I have forgotten! Oh, one more thing ruby, we had volunteer patient transport to the hospital because it was in Oxford ( over an hour away for me) but they didn't run at weekends so my friend helped out there. May be worth asking if they have it for you. Please don't be tempted to drive yourself, it's incredibly tiring....

  • TAFF after much internet searching and review reading I have ordered a cat activity tree/playhouse/scratching posts with two hiding compartments (in plush fabric no less!!!) for the Sparkley Cat. It says easy to assemble but I will reserve judgement on that until it arrives!! Me and instructions are not very compatible! xx

Afternoon. I'm back from my half hour massage and, blooming heck, it was so sore. The knots are tight! The bloke worked hard so I'm feeling better though tender. I'll go back again next week as I still need more, the lactic acid build up is huge.

Nice to read all the news here. There's some serious work going on amongst everyone.

Good afternoon chums ,first Redruby you are in excellent hands I found the breast care nurses and doctors so wonderful and helpful The earlier something is detected the better the results. Also so helpful and supportive were the Marie Curie ladies. It sometimes seems like its unreal and happening to someone else. But please believe me we are all here to support you and nothing is a daft question.
Its a journey that at sometimes feels so frightening , and also has at times a dark humour that comes out . When I was having chemo and lost my hair my youngest DGS said 'well on the bright side Gran you are saving a fortune on the hairdressers and shampoo and stuff :) My strongest memory is four of the boys then aged 4,7,8 & 11 sitting all around my chair slapping great handfuls of Aqueous cream on my shiny bald head saying we will make sure it comes back I ended up looking like I had a huge ice cream doughnut on top of my head and the boys giggling helplessly :):):)
It was a way of coping with stuff and the first time we all went swimming (I have one arm that now doesn't work very well as I have lymphedema on it) so swimming means I tend to swim in circles rather than a straight line. But swimming a width in a very largish circle the boys all were sitting on the opposite side of the pool yelling out Go Gran your going to so it :) I did, to much amusement from the rest of the folk in the pool.
So although life seems very scary at the moment, there are times when you will laugh and cope .I send you all my best wishes and I have everything crossed for a good result for you. Chemo also is a great excuse to eat chocolate and afterwards it helps take the slightly metallic taste out of your mouth ,along with a bottle of Lucozade.

Its not a great bit of news for anyone to get ,but today 13 years later the results and recovery is around 90% positive.

Do not look at Dr Google, or listen to folk who tell you daft things listen to the experts, they are brilliant.

I had treatment at a hospital about ten miles from where I live and was lucky that my two DD's took it in turn to get me there and back ,but there is a patient ambulance service that can help in most regions if its difficult to get to.

I had a year out from my normal life and when I finished R/Therapy I went ahead and enrolled in a degree course which I had always wanted to do.So set yourself a goal for doing something for yourself ,it doesn't matter what it is ,could be bungee jumping or visiting somewhere you always wanted to go to but work towards it in your mind and count every day out of the way as you get nearer to recovery and remission

Well chums times getting on and DGS Mikey who is growing like a weed at the moment wants me to let down his favourite trousers so thats my job to finish before he gets in from school

Have a good day chums halfway through another week already

    Cheers JackieO xx

    Hi all

Redruby sorry to hear your news, sending lots of hugs and strength your way. As others have said we are here to listen and be as supportive as we can in a virtual way. Hope your dd Ex now stays away.

JackieO hope you can get some help with the cost of the boiler.
Dumpling - hope your scan goes ok.
Gers - I’m currently having problems with my shoulder and waiting on physio, do you think the sports massage helps.

I’m currently off work as dr said shoulder was due to RSI, as it is no better I decided 5 x 12 hour shifts won’t help especially as we are always short staffed and I usually end up with the busiest role. I’m hoping the rest will ease it and then I can return.

Hugs to anyone that needs wants one. Take care

topsyturphy, I have had shoulder problems for over a year so I sympathise. I finally gave in and asked the Dr to refer me to physio. The doc said it was frozen shoulder but the physio said it wasn't but tendonitis which would eventually get better by itself but could take 18 months. He gave me some exercises to do to help it along.

I've been going over the bookshelves in Laura's room. She has kept so much junk but doesn't want it cluttering their house of course. I've bought some boxes to slide under the bed to put a lot of it in so that I can use the shelves for their intended purpose.
