Miss sold bt broadband

Hi I think I've been mis sold supetfast fibre 2 unlimited broadband 67mb apparently.
My 2 year contract was about to finish so I contacted another supplier. They informed myself that I could only get 20-34mb.
So I contacted bt to see what deals are going and asked about speed and was informed, after a lot of side stepping they said my speeds was between 20-34mb. I have been complaining about speeds a few times.
It does state on Web page my package is super fast fibre 2 unlimited with 67mb.
Can someone help to see if I have been mis sold a package that I cannot get speeds of 67mb.
Thanks

  • Hello,

I would contact BT and have a long conversation with them as this could have been a genuine mistake especially if you ordered this online, it could also depend on the area you live in.

    Hope this helps,

It will probably be "up to 67 Mb", which is not the same as being guaranteed 67Mb.

That's not misselling, in fact you were most probably told when you signed up you could only get up to 34Mb, so at that point it was your choice to make. Of course BT make improvements all the time but go guarantees you'd see any of them over the life of your contract.

Last time i renewed, they wanted to put me on the same package as above, I told them that the max speed I could get was around 33mb, but they kept on pushing that deal so i eventually said i'm not paying any more for it that I do now and they gave me the 67mb package for the same price i was paying for the 38mb or 52mb package i was originally on so i gave up and just went with it, knowing full well I cannot get 67mb but wan't costing me anything more.

My plan runs out in couple of months time or so, i'm planning to call them up and see what deals are going as at present I've not done the line rental saver incase BT can't match the market and i'm hoping to switch back to a 36/38mb connection as no point having 67 when can't get it.

I got the feeling the sales person just needed to sell those packages, as if BT were pushing to get more people signed up to 67mb package.

    They probably mean upto 67Mb.

Do they also say what the minimum will be?

Just phone up BT, the best deal they could offer was 33.49 for superfast halo 1 @ 67mb which i told them i can't get the speed. They then said could do Superfast broadband 1 unlimited for £29.99. I told them i'd think about it, my contract runs out in May so at present, i can get better deals elsewhere which I told them but they still didn't seem interested in matching or coming close on price so looks like i'll be moving elsewhere. Prices elsewhere are between £20.50 - £22 a month so looks like I will be switching providers unless prices change dramatically by May.

Dont see where you have been mis-sold .
Dont forget you have a BT price increase March 2020 .
