Move from Sky to Vodafone - good idea?

I am currently on Sky Fibre max Pro with Sky, which with Line Rental costs £50.99 a month! For this my speeds are 58MBps, and I have a static IP.
Looking on the Vodafone website I can get similar speeds, I guess no static IP, for £21.99 a month, so it seems sensible to switch...
Few questions:
How have people found the Vodafone service - good quality, stable, no throttling, ping speeds etc? Can you have a static IP, or if not does their router support a service such as DynDNS.
Any other opinions on Sky vs Vodafone, Customer Service if stuff goes wrong etc?
I have been with Skly for many years and although the service is pretty good there have been issues and I have really only stuck with them out of habit and the convenience of a static IP address as I run CCTV cameras at home, I don't have Sky TV at all.

I see no tecnhical issues with that move.
Ping will be slower.
Vodofone customer service is worse than sky.
Have you considered a move to nowTV? They are owned by sky0 -
Last Thursday I switched from BT to Vodafone and immediately regretted it because of the dire customer service. I have since cancelled the switch but not without a real headache.
Vodafone had an amazingly cheap deal (£23 for fibre BB, line rental and anytime calls) but I had zero confidence that they would be able to resolve any problems if they arose. My experience includes:
- Takes ages to get through on the phone
- Overseas script driven call centres
- Jargon filled and confusing authentication questions when you contact (one time the wouldn't even authenticate me even though I answered correctly)
- Chat won't allow you to email a full transcript of the conversation
- Chat were generally pretty stupid
- No way to email them
- I received multiple copies of text messages saying that I had done things when I hadn't
- I received multiple copies of the same email
After I cancelled it was like trying to get blood out of a stone to get them to send an email confirmation, they kept insisting that it had to be by text.
There is a silver lining to this, and that is that after I cancelled, my existing provider, BT, offered me the same deal for £23.99 (albeit without anytime calls) for near enough same price. No brainer! (responsive customer service, 1000's of wifi hotspots, cloud storage and BT Sport).
Incidentally, when I cancelled, my back-up choice would have been Now. Again competitively priced and only 12 months contract.0 -

A similar thing happened to me. I got an email confirming my switch date. Then another saying that (due to engineer availability) I wouldn't be connected to their service for almost two weeks after that date.
Not wanting to be without Internet access for that long, I tried to postpone the disconnection from my old ISP. Vodafone had no idea how to do that. I was promised a dozen call-backs, but none ever came. Emails were ignored.
One memorable call involved me talking to six different departments of very confused people who had no idea what they were doing. The only think they did know what that I had come through to the wrong department, and would have to be transferred. After two hours, I was cut-off whilst still on hold, waiting for the seventh department to speak to.
Eventually, I decided to cancel before the switch, during the permitted "cooling-off period". Vodafone couldn't even manage that. Again, I spent hours on the phone, sent a few emails, and even attempted the useless chat support.
The only way I was able to cancel the service was to beg BT to forcibly revoke Vodafone's migration attempt using the process normally reserved for fraudulent line-slamming.
It was a real headache and took up hours of my time. The customer service experience was like being trapped in a Kafka novel.0 -
Great, Vodafone have just sent me a warning that they have set up my Direct Debit even though I cancelled 4 days ago!0

Try a all or online chat with Sky to see if they'll match the competition? Or I think Plusnet still do static IP for a one off small fee if yu need it it0

Hi give Pulse8 a try, Only a 1 months contract. you need your own unlocked router or you can buy routers direct from them just checked and you opt to pay £2.00 extra for static ip. I will be moving them to them soon from plusnet.0
