House developer poor workmanship insurer won’t pay

Options
Hi we have an 18 year old detached house. During the recents storms the render came off one side of the chimney and hit some tiles off the roof.
The insurance company has said we are not covered for the repair to the chimney (more of the render looks like it will come off and the missing side) as it was not done properly in the first place. Nothing hit the chimney during the storms and there are no trees nearby etc.
How do I go about tackling the housing developer as it is outside of their “warranty” period however render should not be falling off after less than 20 years.
Thank you in advance

The developer is no longer responsible for any defects due to the length of time that has passed since they built the house.

As above you have no come back from the developers. The house is the best part of 20 years old, as the owner the repairs are your responsibility.
