Predictions for personal investment Post Brexit

Hi folks,
I am a current want to be UK private investor (combination of stocks and bonds likely scenario) who has been sitting on the fence for too long not doing anything with my humble savings. Getting into the right type of investing is hard enough to start with for complete novices but this Brexit has made it even more difficult for people wishing to get into personal investment. What are your predictions for Post Brexit Britain? Is it worth waiting before I commence, will there never be a ‘right time’ ? Are those that know, now looking towards alternatives?
Thanks
Jay B

I predict stocks will go up and down, as will the pound, other currencies, and interest rates.
What have you been waiting for?0 -
As stocks have historically gone up more than they have gone down, the right time statistically is most likely to be "right now" (maybe wait for the markets to open on Monday?)
More importantly, what specifically were you intending to invest in? Stocks and Bonds cover a huge range of things from the safe to the very risky.Im A Budding Neil Woodford.0 -
I believe the UK stock market accounts for around 4% of global share market .
Most Diversified multi asset investments bought in UK will have more than this , as there tends to be a local weighting but probably no more than 25% . In any case most of the FTSE 100 companies are globally diversified them selves.
Brexit will probably affect the UK real economy but its effect on global financial markets will be very minor , if at all.0 -
An old adage remains true - time IN the market is more successful than timing the market
...in the long term that is, waiting just cuts down the long term.
Perhaps the first step is a low cost world tracker, either with bonds included, or a seperate bond fund according to your risk appetite?0 -

Only for people who think it makes a difference, which it shouldn't if you invest globally. It's a total irrelevance. .0 -
Not bothered about Brexit at all. UK makes only a small % of investments, maybe it will be good, maybe it will be bad. Who cares?Save £12k in 2020 #42 £12,551.25 / £14,000 89.65%0

Thanks, so with this understanding the situation for the UK be it worse off or better off is unlikely to affect any of my investments very much if I decide begin to invest, true? I have read a few of Andrew Hallams books, I understand the basic philosophy of personal investing, what has stopped me from setting it an account with a broker is the lack of real experience that I have. I was looking at the life strategy 60% equity fund by Vanguard. 60/40 split suits my age. For someone like me who has managed to save a modest 100K and can add a further 10K a year to his pot annually. What would you recommend as an initial safe investment?0

VLS60 is a perfectly fine choice. To "pound cost average" your investment, what about buying Vanguard within an ISA? That would oblige you to stagger your investments at a maximum 20K a year and tax-wrap the capital gains. Where is your 100K sitting at the moment?: )0 -
It has never been easier to make personal investments.0

Thanks for your advice, at the moment I have it 50K in a standard bank savings account and the rest in three separate ISA's that to be honest provide me with little to no interest accumulation these days - Purchased when the rate was good and what with todays options in ISA very slim, just left to go dormant. I really would like 2020 to be the year I get my finances working for me. Would you recommend I start by transferring my current account crash pot to the Vanguard 60/40 fund tax-wrapped as last years and in march this years ISA, and then consider how to deposit my ISA savings there in annual 10K deposits readjusting the percentages to reflect the 60/40 weighting?0
