As has been mentioned, you can't use the switching sites to search for tariffs that are incompatible with your current meter
Some sites such as Runpath don't look up your meter details.
The OP just needs to start by saying that he pays by DD rather than by Prepayment Meter, and to click 'View tariffs, including ones that require switching directly with the supplier'. It will then show tariffs from Symbio, Neon Reef etc, but Bulb won't be near the top.renegadefm wrote: »my thinking is once I set up a direct debt, wont that make me more tied into them or anything, and harder to leave them? Latest update is EDF suggested I stay on the current tarrif albeit the fairly expencive one and agreed to refund the difference in expenditure on a monthly basis. I have had over £40 refunded to me so far for the period 12th December to 12th January. So basicslly we used £10 a week more than before the smart meter instillation and tarrif change. So its a result so far.
They suggested I wait until September because they cant currently convert me from PAYG to DD due to not having access to a code. I cant remember what the code is called now, but EDF cant do it yet as I haven't had the smart meter long enough yet.
So I am content enough to wait until September to do that as I am getting my refunds monthly up until September anyway. My next refund will be 12th February which will probably be another £40 for the period 12th Jan - 12th Feb.
So all in all its been a happy ending to a bit of a nightmare.
Hopefully readers of this will be a benefit to them if they are suffering a simular problem.0
