How to complain about Hermes?

  • Hermes are impossible to contact. My husband found a phone number, but got charged £6 with no option to hang up before he got charged. Is this legal? How on earth do you actually chase a non delivery with Hermes without having to pay for the privilege?

03 numbers should be charged at standard rate or come out of inclusive minutes

I buy quite a few items on EBay and my heart sinks when I see the courier is Hermes. They are truly awful. I was due a delivery of a parcel last Wednesday between 3.00 and 5.00pm. It didn't arrive and the tracking info was later updated to say there had been a delay and it would be going out again within 24 hours. That is the last I heard and the delivery has still not been made. Last night I sent them an email asking for an explanation but have had no response. I have also sent a message to the EBay seller to see if they can do anything from their end. If nothing happens on Monday I will try phoning Hermes but I usually keep that as a last resort as I hate waiting in a queue for 30 mins plus.

Their biggest problem is in the "final mile". If you have a good local delivery person then they are really good. The one who delivers here is friendly and popular and I haven't had a problem with them for a long time receiving goods.
They have never been equipped to deal with problems. If you're receiving an item you may be best contacting the sender before the courier.
They may be easier to deal with via social media, but I have no experience with that. Twitter usually works the best with companies.

Yep, our local people are known locally as the "Hermes Ladies" the two of them are always friendly, they drop things off and start leaving quickly, but make sure I have answered the door and sometimes chat a little while walking back to their van. It seems they need to keep moving to get everything delivered on time but I cannot fault their service.
