Hi all
Fresh instal of W10 in so I assume I will stil need some form of AV.
Looking around the net looks like Avira that I used with W7 no longer makes the top 10
Which free one do I go for?
Thank you

If you've looked around the net you should have found that the built in Windows Defender is all that you need.
Don't waste your time with anything else. Except, get the free Malwarebytes and do a regular scan.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

As others have said, use the free A/V and anti malware already incorporated into Windows 10. Make sure you keep Windows up to date with the tedious but necessary monthly updates. The A/V updates are generally daily.
The free A/V (and free Malwarebytes) offer little protection against zero day exploits nor against those annoying “browser helper objects” that come with software packages and redirect your web searches.
Paid for A/V packages tend to be more proactive and can pre-check websites to warn of suspicious activity, stopping you in your tracks before you even get there. Cost is typically £35 for a 5 PC annual licence. Whether £6/year per PC is good value is up to you. Having tried to remove malware from a neighbours PC (and failed), I think prevention is better than trying to remove malware afterwards. And FYI, Malwarebytes wouldn’t remove the malware that infected the browser.0 -
Paid for AV can usually get a licence for £8- £15 .0
