Anti virus deal

Hello,

Not sure if this is the correct place for posting.

I've been in the market for a new antivirus for my new PC the last couple of days.My PC had Macafee installed on it as part of the package but that had expired. They kept sending me emails to subscribe to them their service and offering good deals.Anyway I decide to have a look at their deals and they are offering £50 off their best package.Full price being £89.99 and the deal is £39.99.

I decided to follow Martins advice and looked on Topcashback and there's a 40% cashback on offer for this product.

I purchased the antivirus and got £15.51 off the already discounted price.

Quite pleased with myself.

I got Windows Defender as part of my Win 10 installation. It's totally free, quite pleased with myself too. :rotfl:

Paying 25 for something you don't need isn't very mse. Macafee is always the first thing I uninstall from a pc

Or you could have bought an OEM software key from eBay for £2. Which does exactly the same job.

You installed McAfee and worst still you paid for it? You must really hate yourself.

I only inflict that on people I really dislike.

Uninstall it and cross your fingers, it probably offers similar protection. I got fed up of fixing someones PC after they kept infecting it with McAfee. They didn't get the point that even though they put that on it still got infected (A LOT).

Guys, aren't you all being a bit mean to the Op? It is a pity that they did not know to come on here first for advice about anything 'techie' but after all this is/was a moneysaving site so they were only going on that.

Op, if you need any more help in the future with anything techie, best to ask on here first before going ahead. They are a friendly bunch, really :)

In the meantime, is there anything we can do so that the Op can maybe cancel their recent purchase. Or at the very least point them in the right direction of what to install instead and how to do it :)

As mentioned, with Windows 10 it's debatable whether commercial antivirus software offers any real value. But if you're going to buy it, you may as well get a good price.

Importantly when your subscription expires you must either uninstall McAfee and switch to the built-in Windows Defender or another antivirus program, or else you must renew the subscription. Expired commercial antivirus is worse than useless, I've seen so many PCs get infected because a "free trial" or paid for subscription expired.

    Cancel purchase and claim refund.
You have 30 days to do so.
