Hi, I've just read that Whatsapp is not going to work on oldr Android operating systems from tomorrow.
I don;t want to lose some of the photos I received and sent as messages on it.
Does anyone know if it will still work on a Samsung Galaxy S4 mini running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean 4.2.2?
If it won't, is there anyway I can copy the photos/messages onto my laptop?

Smartphones using Android 2.3.7 and older, and iPhone iOS 8 or older, are those affected by the update.

Sorry can't help with that. Just I read the same article on the BBC News website and quoted what it said about versions before *** being the ones affected.
Don't you back up your photos onto a laptop or something? Or a Cloud account? I only have iOS so not sure about Android.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

I do back up my ordinary photos but not sure how to get the ones off whatsapp. I just looked and found a backup file for whatsapp but can't open it as it is a CRYPT1 file that I can't open0 -
Use google photos app
On an Android phone click on photo and open. Tap 3 dots top right click share......upload to google photos
then on laptop browser go to 'google photos' and sign in
Photo will be there to download0 -
You can use your phones file browser and navigate to Whatsapp/Media/Whatsapp /images.
That will have all photos sent and received which you can copy to another device or upload to google photos.
Do the same for any video's (Whatsapp/Media/Whatsapp videos)
You can do a full backup of any media and messages by pressing the 3 dots in the top right corner in Whatsapp then select settings/Chats/chat backup, just bear in mind that should you ever change to a newer device and wanted to restore your messages you'd also need to copy all images/videos to the new device or you'd just get a blurry box where there was once a picture.0 -
They should automatically have been uploaded to your Google photos.
Check in Google photos app and look for Whatsapp album. I have hundreds in there.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you
