Sky mobile after separating from partner
I have been a sky customer for over 20 years. I moved out of my own property 3 years ago and Sky would not let me transfer my account over to my partners address as my partner already had a Sky account. I was given full rights on the account and for the past three years, I have been able to call, change tv contracts etc and I have been paying the bill for the past three years.
My partner and me have split up this week. We are not in contact with each other.
I have just called sky and requested that a new account be opened for me giving me my 20+ years custom benefits and Sky VIP and to transfer mine and my sons mobile over to the new account.
We are not talking and we want a clean break. I am trying to do the right thing and transfer phones which are mine and my sons over so I can pay for them and Sky will not let me.
What do you usually do when people get divorced or seperate?
So much for having Sky VIP diamond status when Sky aren’t interested in helping at all.
Sky’s answer is that I just simply set up a payment to pay my ex-partner each month.
Why should I be financially tied to my ex-partner because Sky don’t have a process in place to sort this. It’s going to be easier to remove me from the mortgage and joint bank account than moving my mobile phone from my ex-partners sky account.

I understand with Sky Mobile you could save unused data allowed to be saved in piggyback for upi to three years.
Ho do they actually work ? Do you need to do anything to save it to piggyback or they automatically save it to piccgy when the data renewal come in the following month ??
Any help will be greatly appreciated.0 -

hi there sky dont make it easy to do anything with the mobile
sky is in my partners name she pays for tv and i pay for mobile out off my bank account.
phoned up to do speak to sky about mobile and could not do anything with out my partner on the phone even though i pay the account. they dont seemed to get joint accounts would help.
suggest your best bet is to set up new account as sky vip and silver and gold is just the same deals as new customers get.
would not want to be paying my ex for bills after split0 -

Nothing to do with Sky; all organisations have to comply with Data laws or they'd end up in a worse mess than anything their customers can get themselves into.0 -

I fail to understand why a grown up person can not understand this basic concept. Is it because nowadays people are just thinking about what good for them and ignoring that they are living in society with rules and values that need to be respected.
Almost every person must have seen this thing. You sometimes see an idiot keep arguing, shouting on the counters with cashiers because the cashiers refuse to allow him/her to take a cash without a proof of ID.
And if something went wrong unexpectedly, they will put the blame to everybody but him/herself for their losses for allowing that to happen.0 -
sky allowed me to set up the mobile contract with them did not need to speak to my partner then. only when i wanted to change the contract did they need my partner. dont see why sky dont have duel accounts with duel access.
justsaying would make life simpler to be able to talk to both partners.
know it is ofgem rules but makes a more sense to have it in joint account like my plusnet broadband. both me and my partner can deal with this and this is also governed by ofgem.
sky just dont like joint accounts.
would make things like deaths etc to deal with. would not want to go through hassel of this if just lost a loved one.
adindas im not arguing just saying they could make it simpler and easier like other companies seem to do. always seems to be issues with sky and account. they did not have a problem with me opening the mobile contract.
