Copying notes from Windows 10 to Android

I want to be able to make simple notes and lists on a Windows 10 laptop and then copy them to my new Android phone. Maybe occasionally do the same but from phone to laptop. What's the simplest and most straightforward way of doing this?

(A typical use would be making the equivalent of a shopping list at home then being able to consult it on my phone at work.)

I do exactly what you describe using Google Keep (Or Keep Notes as it's now called).

It's like a board covered in Post-It notes onto which you can make notes, including lists with tickboxes. It has quite a few clever features but the most relevant to your question is that the notes sync between the Windows version and the Android app version.

If you're really keen you can use it with Google Home speakers and say "OK Google, add an item to my shopping list" and it'll put your shopping list items on the list in Google Keep on a card that you created called Shopping List.

Thank you! Off now to investigate ...

Hmmm. I'm not keen. I'm an Old Git who's only just mastered the very basics of his first smartphone  And as such I'd be perfectly happy with something like Notepad that just lets me create a simple document, save it and copy it from one to t'other, but it does look a lot like this 'ere Google Keep will do what I want once I learn how to use it.

I don't know if it supports the transfer of notes from Android to Windows 10 but I believe Microsoft have an app called 'Your Phone' which may/may not support such a functionality?

open this on your Win 10 laptop browser

https://keep.google.com and sign in using your google a/c

On mobile download 'google Keep' from android playstore

Writing notes on either will sync.

I use it like this every day

How about OneNote onenote.com you can then access them on the app on your phone, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.office.onenote or groupme, you can send yourself notes, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.groupme.android

The copying from one to the other is what you will find difficult - Google Keep does it automatically without you having to even give it a moment's thought. What you type into a note on one thing will appear in the same note on the other

There are also several alternatives which have similar functionality to Keep, e.g. SimpleNote, Zoho Note etc.

Keep has a really annoying feature (which AFAIK can't be disabled), where it tries to be clever and turn things that it thinks are links into actual links.
