Thanks for the warning. I just rang using the number you gave me and opted out. I've worked very hard to stop my name getting on junk mailing lists so I'm really annoyed that they are being so sneaky! The mag always goes straight in the bin.

They are not being sneaky, if you read your original contract you signed and have a copy of its all there in black and white:rolleyes:

Hi Deanos you may be right but looking at the way the way the leaflet is worded I wouldn’t be so sure. If you are right then it is a very poorly worded and it does state on the flyer that it is a change in their privacy policy.

How information we hold about you can be used

By continuing to be a customer, you agree that any member of the BSKYB group, which includes Marketing Contributions Ltd and any company which may succeed our businesses, may use and share the information you provide and other information we hold about you for account management, market research and the marketing of Sky's and third parties' products and services. This may include contact you by post, telephone, email or SMS unless you tell us you don't want to be contacted in any of these ways by calling us on 08702 etc

We may also share such information with credit reference agencies and other companies including for use in credit decisions, for fraud prevention and to pursue debtors.

If you benefited from an interactive discount contract from Marketing Contributions Ltd, (i.e. to get a free dish and box), Marketing Contributions Ltd can also use and share your information and information about your Digital Satellite System, with those companies that offer Interactive Servicesl and those companies may use your personal details for marketing and market research purposes relating to both these Interactive Services and associated products.

  • you dont have to ring them on that premium number i sent them an e-mail via there site within 2 days i had an e-mail back saying that they had now taken my details of there list and they will instruct there other companies as well within 5 days

Sky are so unbelievably inefficient, I take comfort from the notion that they'd not even find my details, let alone pass them on. I'm more fussed about how it is virtually impossible to get hold of someone to talk to there. I lose the will to live just thinking about calling them.

What's all the fuss about, every criminal in the land has probably got hold of your name address and bank details by now, perhaps we should be getting worked up about that, and not the prospect of a bit more junk mail.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

I agree with you this is not good. They should have written individually to customers if they were going to do this.

At least you got the info though - since I cut my package to 4 mixes I was told I was no longer eligible for the SKy magazine (not that I miss it much, lol!) and so I expect I will not be receiving this information at all. Surely this is illegal?
That's bizarre becuase we now have NO package, just the sky box, receive all the free channels and we STILL get the magazine!!! MAD!!
